asynchronous rotation / eclipsing combo. Sine wave will be some surface feature or other. Eclipse from orbiting object, likely a star.

The sharp drops are out of sync with the sinusoidal variability too, so I think they must be external to the star.

variable would explain the sine wave pattern, but not the four sharp, regularly spaced drops - I think that's a transiting planet.
