Edgeon orbital view....maybe not!

One thing I've learned is to expect the unexpected. Which leads me to the standard model of edge-on orbital planes. We tend to think all eco-planet orbits are seen edge-on and the transit is directly on the equator of the star. Is it wrong to think that the stars' orbital planes could be at a higher or lower latitude of our plane of view? I could see a planet transit light curve that is short and quick depending on the orbital latitude. Correct?
