Easy way- Looking ahead thru the light curve quarters 4-6 for potential drops

For those new here or not sure how our more seasoned members find confirmation drops in quarters 4-6, here is a simple and quick way to get a sneak peak without running the fits files thru a program.

In PH Talk, click on "Examine Star".

Above the light curve, click on "View on Kepler Archive". This will take you to NStED. Copy the KID (Kepler ID) number.

Go to this link- http://exoplanetarchive.ipac.caltech.edu/applications/ETSS/Kepler_index.html

This is the NEA peirodogram generator and also shows the time plots for the star of interest for each quarter that is available to the public.

Paste the KID (Kepler ID) number and hit the "View Button".

The next page shows all the quarters, so click on one of the quarters tab- "View All Time Series and Periodogram" (doesn't matter which one).

At the next page you will see a time plot for the quarter checked. Deselect and check the quarter of interest, check desired color, and then click on "update plot". A time line for that quarter's light curve will show up so you can check for obvious drops.

If you want to create a peridogram, click on "compute periodogram" at the bottom most button.

If you want to post the drop, you will have to snip and save to your computer for later upload to "photobucket" or other free hosting service.

Hi,

Since a few days, I just see quarters 0 to 3 on http://exoplanetarchive.ipac.caltech.edu.

Before that, I had a view from Q0 to Q6. Do you have the same problem ?

Greg.

I know that both nighthawk_black and ggccg emailed NEA. The reply was it is a bug/glitch and NEA is going to fix it soon.
