With regard to APH51213509, is there any natural phenomenon which accounts for this graph, or is it an instrument glitch?

It looks like it's really two stars that are getting measured. Could be a instrumental glitch or maybe stellar contamination in the Kepler photometric aperture that is causing the stars to alternate between which is the primary star being measure in the Kepler light curve.
